Our Sound Department focuses on the creative and technical dimensions of film sound as a central element of cinematic storytelling. The curriculum integrates theory and practice, enabling students to develop proficiency in sound design, recording, editing, and mixing while deepening their understanding of sound’s narrative and emotional functions. Emphasis is placed on creative collaboration, where students work closely with directors, editors, and cinematographers to craft cohesive audiovisual experiences. Through hands-on projects using professional tools such as Avid Pro Tools, iZotope RX, and field recording equipment, learners explore the artistic potential of sound as a medium that shapes audience perception and enhances the expressive power of film.
SOUND ENGINEERING COURSE PATHWAY
As Neo’s sound department students, you will engage in multiple production cycles that immerse you in the full spectrum of film sound processes. Each final project will be screened and evaluated to support your growth as a professional sound artist. Your projects will include a music video, a documentary, the pilot episode of a web series, an ad film, and a diploma short film. You will lead your project, which needs sound design, recording, and post-production, collaborating closely with peers from direction, cinematography, and editing departments. You will have access to sound recording equipment, mixing consoles, and editing suites suitable to each stage of your course. Your role will involve capturing production sound on set, creating Foley, designing sound effects, ADR, and mixing to realize the director’s auditory vision. The program emphasizes close collaboration with directors and post-production teams as you shape the final sound mix in our dedicated studio environment.
SOUND ENGINEERING COURSE: NEO’S APPROACH
At Neo, we believe that a strong foundation in audio theory is essential for a successful and sustainable career as an audio engineer. Equally vital to this foundation are practical on-set experiences and creative collaborations with other filmmaking departments, which help shape students into versatile artists. Our curriculum guides students through progressively challenging projects—from ‘Musical Chaos’ through ‘Character Portrait,’ ‘Ad Film,’ ‘Documentary’,’Web Series’ culminating in a ‘Diploma Film’—to master both the technical skills and narrative aspects of sound design. In addition to hands-on sound design and production, students explore complementary disciplines such as music production and mixing, acoustics, and interactive sound, equipping them with a well-rounded audio skill set. This integrated approach ensures that graduates are prepared to contribute creatively and technically across all phases of film production.

The only Film School in India with 10 departments of filmmaking to enhance effective Interdepartmental knowledge and interactions.
Location sound recording is one of the new avenue in Film Sound Design which is widely covered in our syllabus.

Attending Interview: Based on the Orientation output every candidate need to go through a written test followed by a direct interview with the panel of Academic experts.
2Camp Fire
Its a New Beginning between Neo and you. Camp Fire is a Program to help you know us better & identifying your Dream, This program includes a Film School visit and an Interactive session with Film industry experts.
3Boot Camp
The one-day seminar program, or "bootcamp," covers film education, the future of the film industry, and the future of the economy. You can communicate with alumni and professionals in the film industry. There is a 500 rupee registration fee.
4Joining
The final shortlisted candidates will continue their journey to reach their destinations with us.
